Videos in Weddings

I don't know why I'm so obsessed with Wedding Videos. It must be the influence of the Fiance and his background in videos.

Here is a list of how videos are being used currently in the wedding industry.

The Proposal Video - This is a video of the actual proposal. Here is a REAL proposal video called "The Perfect Proposal"

Save The Date/Invitation Video - This is usually sent to their guests by CD/DVD. Or they can just direct everyone to a website where it's posted.

Here's one done by the same guy in "The Perfect Proposal" and this is their invitation video! How cute is this video?


Engagement Type Video - This is like an Engagement shoot you do with your photographer, but with video. This is usually shown during the Reception.





Love Story Video - This video usually talks about how the couple met and is usually shown at the Reception.

Movie Spoofs/Concept Videos - This is something fun and usually shown during the Wedding Reception, to the pleasant surprise of their guests. It includes the Bride and Groom and is usually based off of a popular TV show or Movie, like Star Wars, Friends, The Office, etc.

Same Day Edit Video - This is a video that showcases/highlights the couple's wedding day and usually shown sometime during the Reception.

Wedding Trailer Video - This is usually posted on the couple's wedding website. It is done after the wedding. It's kind of a similar to the Wedding Highlights Video. Actually, I'm not sure what the difference is.



Wedding Highlights Video - This is a video of the Wedding Highlights and usually shown after the wedding on the internet.

Trash The Dress Video - This is usually done after the wedding and posted somewhere on the internet so family/friends can see it. And who can forget Mrs. Milkshake's awesome TTD shoot with Stillmotion?

Concept Videos and Movie Spoofs

I am so lucky that Fiance is a video producer/director/editor. We get to have all these neat-o videos for the wedding. In addition to our Save The Date video, we have decided to come up with Movie Spoofs. When I was looking for wedding videographers last year, I came upon the WEVA 2008 award website. I had already seen Stillmotion's work, but they were located in Canada! I knew that flying them down would be expensive, so I looked up all the videographers that were located in California on the WEVA website. I looked at their demos and videos and then asked for pricing sheets. This is the same method I would have probably used to find a photographer on the WPJA Northern California website if I hadn't had found a photographer already. Below are the Cali videographers I had looked up. Red 5 Studios David Robin Films Genesis Films Blue Skies Cinema Vantage Point Productions I LOVED Red 5 Studios for their Wedding Concept Videos. I had bookmarked them and showed Fiance all their Movie Spoofs. We began talking about it again last night and we came up with 3-4 Movie Spoof videos. Fiance majored in Theater Arts so he did a lot of acting, theater and spoken word stuff in college. And also, he has a ton of actor friends. We have already picked out most of our cast and crew! A couple of ideas we have come up with for Spoofs were Friends and Scrubs. But the million dollar question is, which couple should we play? Monica/Chandler or Rachel/Ross? Elliot/J.D. or Turk/Carla? We have a couple more ideas.... but those will remain secret for now, only to be revealed at our Reception

STD Video Inspirations

The FI and I are planning to make a video for our Save The Date. We figured that it would be fun, cheap, and a great way to showcase more of our goofy side. We have a few ideas for some of the shots, but I think FI has a ton of secret ideas that he's not sharing with me.

I have fallen in love with the idea of having some kind of Engagement Video ever since I saw Wong Fu's video of "I'm Yours" by Jason Mraz. They had made it when they were still in college many years ago for their friend's wedding. I love it and have watched it a couple hundred times by now.



Then, they came out with a video last year to Marie Digby's "Say It Again" that they made for another friend's wedding. I love it just as much as their "I'm Yours" video. These two videos are so different but both are incredibly good.



*sigh* I am so in love with Wong Fu and their work. If only I was good friends with them. Or if I could hire them to make videos for us. Except, I'm not sure they would accept "wedding" type of work.
